Custom facial
- What it is
- A facial planned around your skin type, your concerns and whether the treatment suits your skin
- A good fit if
- You want a facial adapted to your skin, for hydration, comfort or a fresher look

Your skin changes with the weather, your sleep, your stress and what you put on it. So we do not run one facial for everyone. At Skin & Silk, your beautician looks at your skin first, then chooses the products and steps that suit your skin and the treatment you are having. Not every treatment suits every skin, so we check first.
You will find us in a quiet, ladies-only salon at 6 Green Parade on Whitton Road in Whitton, with fresh towels and a calm treatment room. Come for an hour to yourself, or to look after your skin before a big day.
What we offer
Every facial starts with a look at your skin, so the steps suit you.
Depending on your skin, a custom facial may include steps such as cleansing, exfoliation, a mask and a facial massage. Your beautician chooses and adjusts the steps for you, so not every facial is the same. The aim is comfort, hydration and a refreshed look, but results vary from person to person.
Skin treatments are cosmetic. They do not treat skin conditions such as acne, eczema or rosacea. Your beautician will look at your skin and explain what we can offer and what to expect before you decide.
Facial threading is a separate facial hair removal service. Some clients have it alongside a facial; the best order depends on your skin and the treatments involved, so ask your beautician. You can read more on our waxing and threading page.
Book your facialSkin guide
Not sure of your skin type? That's fine — your beautician will check on the day. This table is a rough guide to what we look for.
| Skin type or concern | What you may notice | What your facial may focus on |
|---|---|---|
| Dry skina skin type | Can feel tight or look flaky | Moisture and comfort |
| Oily skina skin type | Can look shiny and may be prone to breakouts | Balance, without stripping the skin |
| Combination skina skin type | Oilier in the middle of the face, drier on the cheeks | Different care for different areas |
| Sensitive skincan happen with any skin type | Can go red or sting easily | Gentle products and a light touch, if a facial is suitable |
| Dull-looking skina concern | Has lost its glow | A fresher, more even-looking finish |
This table cannot diagnose a skin condition, and skin does not always fit neat categories. Which treatment suits you depends on your individual skin, and your beautician will advise you.

Your visit
Your visit starts with a short chat about your skin and your routine. Your beautician then looks at your skin in good light, considering your concerns, the products you use and whether the treatment is suitable. This helps us choose the right products and decide where to focus. Your beautician does not diagnose skin conditions.
Next, we prepare your skin and carry out your treatment, which may include cleansing, exfoliation, a mask and facial massage, depending on your skin. We finish with products to soothe and protect your skin, and explain how to look after it at home.
Good to know
The more we know, the better we can plan your facial. Please tell us about:
If you have an active skin condition or significant irritation, we may need to adjust or reschedule your treatment, and we cannot guarantee that every situation can be accommodated.

Special occasions
A facial can be a lovely part of getting ready for a wedding, party or photos. There is no single rule for timing — it depends on how sensitive your skin is, whether the treatment is new to you and the type of treatment.
Aftercare
Aftercare depends on your treatment and how sensitive your skin is, so follow your beautician's advice. As a general guide:
Avoid touching or scratching your face.
Be gentle with your skin and apply sunscreen daily.
Avoid irritating your skin straight after your appointment — no vigorous exfoliation, very hot showers or saunas.
Mild, temporary redness can happen. If redness, irritation or a reaction is stronger than expected, lasts longer or gets worse, contact us, and seek medical advice if you are concerned.
Use any products your beautician recommends.
The Skin & Silk difference
Your beautician checks your skin and talks through the options before your treatment.
A comfortable place to unwind.
A quiet treatment room, with fresh towels for every client.
