A wax should be quick, clean and as comfortable as possible. At Skin & Silk, our beauticians offer leg waxing and facial hair removal in a private, ladies-only salon on Whitton Road in Hounslow. We tell you what is coming before each step, and you can ask for a moment whenever you need one.

01 / 03Waxing
Waxing removes hair from the root, so legs stay smooth for longer than with shaving, although results vary from person to person. Choose lower legs, upper legs or full legs.
It is ideal before a holiday, a swim or a summer dress — and a welcome break from shaving every few days.
02 / 03Waxing
Facial waxing removes unwanted hair from areas such as the eyebrows, upper lip and chin. The skin on your face is more sensitive than other areas, so we take extra care to keep you comfortable and check your skin as we go.
Waxing is not suitable for every skin type or condition, so please tell us about your skin.
03 / 03Threading
Threading removes hair using a twisted thread instead of wax. It is precise, which is why it is popular for eyebrow shaping and for selected areas of the face. Ask us which areas we can thread.

Both can give a clean result. The better choice depends on the area and on your skin.

Most people have a worry or two before a wax. These are the ones we hear most.
Waxing can be uncomfortable. How much depends on the area, how sensitive you are and whether you have waxed before. Many people find it gets easier with regular appointments, and you can tell us if you need a moment.
That is fine. We explain what will happen before we begin, and we go at your pace.
They can happen after waxing. Gentle exfoliation once your skin has settled, plus regular moisturiser, can help reduce the chance, but it cannot prevent every ingrown hair.
Temporary redness can happen after waxing and usually settles, although how long it lasts varies. Tell us if your skin is easily irritated.
The salon is ladies-only, and we keep the treatment area private.
Your visit
Call us, message us on WhatsApp or visit the salon, and tell us which areas you would like waxed.
We ask about your skin, any skincare products or medication you use and any past reactions, so we can check waxing is suitable before we start.
We work area by area, with care, in a private space.
We soothe your skin and tell you what to do over the next day or two.

Walk-ins are welcome when we have space. For leg waxing we suggest booking ahead, because it takes longer.
A small facial area is quick, and legs take longer. We can give you an estimate when you book.
Because waxing removes hair from the root, regrowth usually takes longer than with shaving. Many people see hair return after about three to six weeks, but it depends on the area and your own hair growth cycle. Treat this as a broad guide, not a promise.
About 5mm, although the ideal length can vary. If your hair is much shorter, wait a little longer before you book.
These products can make skin more sensitive, so waxing may not be suitable. Please tell us what you use when you book, and we will advise whether to go ahead, adjust the treatment or wait.
Please do not. Waxing sunburnt, broken or irritated skin can hurt more and may cause further damage. We may need to postpone your appointment until it has healed.
Give your skin time to settle before sun, swimming or hot weather. How long that takes varies from person to person, so plan your wax ahead of your trip rather than the day before, and ask your beautician for advice.
