When everything feels rushed, neat, strong nails help you feel put together. The nail technicians at Skin & Silk look after your hands and feet with manicures, pedicures, acrylic extensions, overlays, gel polish and nail art.
We agree the shape and finish with you before we start. We are a ladies-only nail salon on Whitton Road, Hounslow, so you can relax in a private space — whether your nails are short, long, brittle or slow growing.

A manicure leaves your hands looking clean and cared for. We shape your nails, tidy your cuticles and finish with colour, or leave them natural. It is the simple choice if you don't want anything fussy.
Polished and natural finishes are both available — just tell us which you prefer.

A pedicure cares for your toenails and the skin on your feet. We trim and shape your toenails, tidy your cuticles and add polish if you like. It is a good idea before a holiday, or whenever your feet need some attention.
A pedicure is a cosmetic treatment, not medical foot care.

Gel polish
Gel polish is cured under a suitable lamp, so it is dry the moment you leave and does not smudge. It gives you long-lasting colour and shine, and it resists chips far better than ordinary polish. Many clients get around two to three weeks of wear, although this varies with how fast your nails grow and how much you use your hands.
It works well for holidays, busy months, or if you are tired of chipped polish.

Acrylic extensions
Acrylic extensions add length to your nails in the shape you prefer, such as square, round or almond. They are a popular choice for everyday wear or a special occasion.
Acrylics are not suitable for every nail, so your technician will check the condition of your nails first, especially if they are weak or damaged. As your nails grow, acrylics need regular infills to stay neat and balanced. Your technician will tell you when to come back.

Overlays
An overlay is a thin, durable layer applied over your natural nail. It adds protection and support, but does not necessarily make your nails longer. Results depend on your own nails. Choose a clear finish, or add colour on top.

Nail art makes your nails personal. Keep it simple with a classic French tip or a design on one or two nails, or go for something more elaborate. Bring a picture and we will tell you what can be done.

Before your appointment
- Think about the shape, length and finish you would like before you arrive.
- Let us know if you already have gel, acrylic or an overlay and which salon applied it, and if you have sensitive skin, any allergies or have reacted to nail products before.
- If you have an infection, irritation or any concern about your nails or skin, please tell us when you book, as we may need to reschedule. Nail treatments are cosmetic and cannot treat nail conditions — if you are worried about your nails, please speak to your GP or pharmacist.
- Please allow extra time for acrylics, a spa pedicure or nail art.

Do I need to book?
You can pop in for a manicure or pedicure if we have space, but we advise booking ahead for acrylics, spa pedicures and nail art.
How long does a gel manicure take?
It depends on your nail shape and the finish you choose. Your technician can advise you when you book or when you arrive.
How long does gel polish last?
Around 2–3 weeks for most people, depending on nail growth and how much you use your hands.
How often will I need an infill for my acrylics?
It depends on how quickly your nails grow, but most people have an infill every 2–4 weeks. Your technician will advise the right timing for you.
Can acrylics or overlays damage my natural nails?
Natural nails can be weakened if acrylics, overlays or gel are not applied, maintained or removed properly. To protect them, follow your aftercare advice and never pick or peel off acrylics, gel or overlays.
Can you remove or work on acrylics, overlays or gel polish from another salon?
In most cases, yes. Please tell us what type of product you have and when it was applied, so we can advise on the best course of action.
I have sensitive skin or an allergy. Can I still have my nails done?
Please let us know when you book if you have any allergies or have had problems with nail products before. Your technician will advise on the most suitable treatments, and in some cases may not be able to recommend certain treatments.
Can I have other treatments at the same time?
Yes — many of our clients have their nails done alongside their hair or a facial. Just let us know when you book and we will plan your visit.

Yes, there is free street parking near the salon.
