Hair · Ladies-only salon

Skin & Silk is a ladies-only hair salon on Whitton Road in Hounslow. Our hairstylists offer haircuts, blow-dries, hair colouring, highlights, balayage, perms and keratin treatments in a private, comfortable space for women.
Whether you want a fresh cut, a new colour or help with hair that is hard to manage, we start by listening. We look at your hair, ask how you like to wear it and agree a plan with you before we begin. We work with all hair types, lengths and textures.
What we offer
Seven treatments, one ladies-only salon — every one starts with a conversation about your hair.

01 / 07
A good haircut should suit your hair, your face and your lifestyle. On short, medium and long hair, our hairdressers can trim your ends, add layers for movement, take off length or give you a completely new look.
We begin with a short consultation. We consider your hair type, how it falls and how much time you want to spend styling it. If you are not sure what you want, tell us how you usually wear your hair and we will suggest options for you to choose from. We can't promise an exact result, because it depends on your hair type and growth, but we will always be honest about what is possible.

02 / 07
A blow-dry gives you a smooth, sleek, wavy or voluminous finish. Clients book one before weddings, parties, nights out and important meetings — or simply when they want a good hair day. Tell us the style you prefer, and bring a photo if you have one.
How long a blow-dry lasts depends on your hair, the weather and what you do afterwards. Your stylist will tell you how to make it last.

03 / 07
We offer full colour, colour refreshes, grey coverage and root touch-ups. A full colour gives you a new shade all over. A refresh brings life back to colour that has faded. Root touch-ups keep your colour even as new hair grows through, and they are quicker than a full colour.
Before we colour, we ask about your hair history, including any colour done at home or in another salon, and we check the condition of your hair. This helps us choose a suitable shade and plan the right steps. Your natural colour and past colouring affect the result, so we will talk through what is realistic.

04 / 07
Highlights add lighter strands through your hair for brightness, movement and dimension. They can be fine and subtle for a natural lift, or bolder and more noticeable. Your stylist will talk through how light you want to go, what your natural colour allows and how much upkeep you are happy with. Lighter results usually need more regular maintenance.

05 / 07
Balayage is a colouring technique in which the colour is painted on by hand. It gives a soft, blended look, often with a gradual fade from darker roots to lighter ends. Because there is no hard line at the root, balayage grows out more gradually than traditional highlights.
Many clients need fewer colour appointments with balayage, although this depends on how light you go and how fast your hair grows. Results also vary from person to person, depending on natural colour, hair history and condition. If you have a photo of the look you like, bring it with you; if not, we will tell you what can be achieved with your hair and how to care for the colour.

06 / 07
A perm adds curl, wave or volume to hair that is flat or straight. We discuss the kind of curl you would like, whether loose or tighter, and check that your hair is healthy enough. Tell us about any colouring, smoothing or other chemical treatments you have had, as these can make a perm unsuitable. We will also share tips on looking after your curls at home.

07 / 07
Keratin is a smoothing treatment that can reduce frizz, add shine and make hair easier to manage. It can work well if your hair frizzes in wet weather or takes a long time to dry. It does not straighten hair permanently, and your stylist will check that it suits your hair and any treatments you have had before.
How long the results last depends on your hair type, how often you wash it and the products you use. Your stylist will tell you what to expect and give you aftercare advice, including when and how to wash your hair and which products to use.
Colour guide
Clients often ask us which to choose. This is a quick way to compare them.
Still not sure? Ask for a consultation or talk to your stylist when you arrive. We can talk you through what each would look like on your hair, depending on your natural colour and hair history.
Ask for a consultation
Before any colour
Every colour appointment starts with a conversation. We ask about the colour you have now, any colour done at home or in another salon, past treatments such as keratin or perms, and the condition of your hair. This helps us choose a suitable shade and avoid surprises.
Not sure what to book?
Let us know what you're looking for, and we'll direct you to the right service.
A keratin treatment or a blow-dry can help smooth out frizz.
A root touch-up or a full colour.
A colour refresh or new highlights.
A layered cut, or a perm for added texture.
Balayage grows out more softly than one solid colour.
If you don't love your current cut, a new shape can suit you better and be easier to manage.

Many people come back every 4–6 weeks. It depends on how fast your hair grows and how different your natural colour is from your dyed colour.
Many clients come back less often than with other colour styles, because balayage grows out softly. It depends on how light you go, how fast your hair grows and the look you want to keep. Your stylist can give you a plan.
